Abstract

(de) Ein Umzug als Performance. Eine Performance wird manifestiert, oder die Manifestation ist die Performance. Die Manifestierenden ziehen mit Statements und Fragen auf Schildern vom Kunstmuseum zur Kunsthalle, um dort auf die Aufzeichnung der Performance zu treffen – sie fand schon einmal statt. Durch die Wiederholung des Umzuges werden Performance und deren Aufzeichnungen, Manifestierungen und Realisierungen thematisiert. Damit werden Fragen danach ausgelöst, welches das eigentliche Ereignis und was die Rolle der Aufzeichnung ist. Daria Gusberti spielt mit Authentizität, Nachahmung, Aufzeichnung, Wiedergabe sowie der Rolle der Künstlerin und hinterfragt damit den Status der Performance und deren Aufzeichnungen allgemein.
Nach der Arbeit Manifestation of Questions (2015), in der Fragen rund um den Siedepunkt eines Raumes thematisiert wurden, sind es in Manifestation of Performance die Manifestierung und Wiederholung der Performance, die Fragen dazu aufwerfen, was die eigentliche Performance ist, wie Vergängliches wieder manifest wird und vor allem, was überhaupt hier manifest wird. Was bedeutet MANIFESTIEREN bzw. MANIFESTATION? Was hat dies zu tun mit dem Wunsch, Performance in Manifesten oder in Archiven eben manifest zu machen? Was realisiert sich jetzt, was ist das Aufgezeichnete, und wie verbleiben beide? Wie wird daran erinnert, wie wird diese Erinnerung zelebriert und was ist wiederholbar?

(eng) A procession as performance. A performance may be manifested or the manifestation becomes the performance. A crowd manifesting and carrying signs with statements and questions migrates from the Kunstmuseum to the Kunsthalle only to come across a record of that same performance – it has already taken place once before. By repeating the parade, performance as such and its recordings, manifestations and implementations are investigated. It inquires into what the actual event and the function of recording are. Daria Gusberti plays with subject matters such as authenticity, imitation, documentation, reproduction and the role of the artist, thus questioning the status of performance and its documentation in general.
Following her piece Manifestation of Questions (2015) evoking questions around the fever pitch of a space, Manifestation of Performance addresses manifestation and repetition of a performance to examine what the actual performance is, how the ephemeral manifests itself once more and in particular what is being manifested here in the first place. What does MANIFESTING or MANIFESTATION mean? How is it related to the desire to make performance manifest in manifestos or archives? What is being performed right now, what is the recorded, and as what do both remain? How is it remembered, how is this memory celebrated and what is repeatable?

Bio

(de) Geboren 1974 in Bern in der Schweiz, studierte Daria Gusberti zeitgenössischen Tanz in Freiburg (D) und in London und arbeitete bis 2012 als Choreografin und Tänzerin. Ihre Stücke wurden u.a. in Bern, Zürich, Lausanne, Genf und Kairo gezeigt. 2015 absolvierte sie den Master Contemporary Arts Practice (MA CAP) an der Hochschule der Künste Bern (HKB) und arbeitet seither als Künstlerin mit Performance, Installation, Fotografie, Video und Objekten. Sie trat beim BONE Performance Festival in Bern 2015 und 2016 auf, besuchte 2017 eine zweimonatige Künstlerresidenz in Athen und hatte 2017 und 2018 mehrere Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen in Bern, Basel und Athen.
Sie ist zudem Mitbegründerin des Restaurants mit Kunstbuchhandlung und Galerie Das Lehrerzimmer – Kunst, Buch, Bar, Küche und war Mitherausgeberin und Projektleiterin der Berner Almanache „Tanz“ und „Performance“.

(eng) Born 1974 in Bern, Switzerland, Daria Gusberti studied contemporary dance in Freiburg (Germany) and London and worked as a choreographer and dancer until 2012. Her pieces have been shown in Bern, Zurich, Lausanne, Geneva and Cairo. In 2015 she completed her Master in Contemporary Arts Practice (MA CAP) at Bern University of the Arts (HKB) and has since worked as an artist with a focus on performance, installation, photography, video and objects. She performed at the BONE Performance Festival in Bern in 2015 and 2016, visited a two-month artist residence in Athens in 2017 and has had several solo and group exhibitions in Bern, Basel and Athens in 2017 and 2018.
She is also co-founder of the restaurant/art bookshop/gallery Das Lehrerzimmer – Kunst, Buch, Bar, Küche and was co-editor and project manager of the Berner Almanache “Tanz” and “Performance”.
