<p>'''(de)''' Performancekunst stellt den Prozess, das Momenthafte, die Präsenz der menschlichen Körper in den Mittelpunkt. Der Körper im Hier und Jetzt wird zum künstlerischen Ausdrucksmittel. Das Objekthafte des Kunstwerks und dessen Beständigkeit tritt in den Hintergrund, das Werk als kommodifizierbares Objekt, wird in Frage gestellt. Bedeutung generiert sich durch eine Handlung an einem bestimmten Ort zu einer bestimmten Zeit. Institutionelle archivarische Standards sind strengen Regeln unterworfen und auf die detaillierte und unveränderte Bewahrung eines Zustandes ausgerichtet. Was tun mit einer Kunstform, die immer in Bewegung ist und deren Charakteristikum die im Moment verhaftete Beziehung zur Betrachterin/zum Betrachter darstellt? Wie soll eine Zeitspanne, ein Ort, ein Raum, in dem sich Körper bewegen und aufeinander reagieren, archiviert werden? Archive haben sich durch technische Neuerungen in den letzten Jahrzehnten in digitale Datenbanken verwandelt die nicht mehr zwingend auf haptische Dokumente oder Objekte verweisen, das Internet gilt als größtes und umfassendstes Archiv aller Zeiten. Kunstsammlungen können über die Webseite in einem digitalen Museum „besucht“ werden. <br><br />
Unsere Gesellschaft entwickelt sich durch die Digitalisierung immer mehr zu einer virtuellen, körperlosen Gesellschaft. Aber gerade in Bezug auf Performancekunst, deren zentraler Inhalt die Auseinandersetzung mit der Beziehung zwischen eigenem Körper und Körper des Gegenübers ist, stellt sich die Frage ob traditionelle Überlieferungsmethoden wie Text, Bild und Objekt ausreichend sind. Auf welche Tradierungsformen können wir zurückgreifen und welche wurden verdrängt? Welche Wissensformen werden als überlieferungswürdig anerkannt, welche marginalisiert? Sollte diese Kunstform die mit der Präsenz der Körper arbeitet nicht auch durch künstlerische performative Methoden vermittelt und erforscht werden können? Und was bedeutet das für den vorherrschenden Archiv- und Wissensbegriff?<br><br />
Der Beitrag wird durch eine performative Übung mit dem Titel Augenzeug_innenbericht eingeleitet, dieser wurde von Marlies Surtmann und Olivia Jaques entwickelt.</p><br />

The object-like nature and durability of the art piece become marginal, whereas the notion of the art work as commodifiable is challenged. Meaning is generated by an action at a certain place at a certain time. Institutional archival standards are subject to strict rules and geared towards the detailed and unaltered preservation of a condition. What to do with an art form that is in constant motion and characterized by its relationship to any current participants? How is a period of time, a place, a space in which bodies move and react to one another to be archived? In recent decades, technical innovations have transformed archives into digital databases that no longer necessarily refer to tactile documents or objects; the Internet is regarded as the largest and most comprehensive archive of all time. <br><br />
Art collections can be "visited" via the website through a digital museum. As a result of digitalization, our society is increasingly developing into a virtual, bodiless society. But it is precisely in relation to performance art, whose central content is the examination of the relationship between one's own body and the other's body, that the question arises as to whether traditional transmission methods such as text, image and object are sufficient. Which forms of transmission can we fall back on and which have been repressed? Which forms of knowledge are recognized as worthy of transmission, which marginalized? Shouldn't this art form, which works with the presence of bodies, also be mediated and explored through artistic performative methods? And what does this mean for the prevailing concept of archiving and knowledge?<br><br />
The contribution will be introduced by a performative exercise entitled Augenzeug_innenbericht, which was developed by Marlies Surtmann and Olivia Jaques.</p><br />

<p>'''(de)''' Marlies Surtmann lebt und arbeitet in Wien, sie ist Künstlerin, Kulturarbeiterin und Kunstwissenschaftlerin. Der Fokus ihrer forscherischen Auseinandersetzung liegt auf der Untersuchung der Beziehung von Körper, Raum, Gesellschaft und Kunst sowie theoretischen und kuratorischen Fragestellungen zur Teilhabe, dem Austausch und der Zusammenarbeit als zentrale Elemente in der performativen Kunst. In Ihrer Dissertation an der Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien forscht sie zur Archivierung von Performancekunst (seit 2017). Im Kunstraum Niederoesterreich konzipiert und realisiert sie Projekte für das Vermittlungs- und Ausstellungsprogramm. Sie absolvierte das Studium der bildenden Kunst ebenfalls an der Akademie (Diplom 2013). Her research investigates the relationship between body, space, society and art as well as theoretical and curatorial questions of participation, exchange and collaboration as central elements in performative art. In her dissertation at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, she researches the archiving of performance art (since 2017). At Kunstraum Niederoesterreich she conceives and realises projects for the art education and exhibition programme. Earlier on she studied Fine Arts at the Academy (Diploma 2013).
